Will I Pass a Drug Test While Using CBD?

Will I Pass a Drug Test While Using CBD?

There are plenty reasons to love cannabidiol (CBD) .

To start off, it’s growing in popularity for all the right reasons. The myriad of health benefits from Cannabidiol are finally coming to light, but there’s still tons of room to grow.

CBD helps by easing chronic pain, relieving anxiety, dropping stress levels and creating an overall sense of well being.

As we all know, there’s plenty of jobs out there that require a drug test to work. Drug testing at the office and work place makes those who need to use medical marijuana think twice.

This in itself is a crime against our very most basic needs. Having access to medication that provides us the ability to live our lives is a necessity, not a privilege.

While CBD is indeed a cannabinoid , will it show up on your drug test?

Concerned CBD lovers can breathe a sigh of relief.

Thankfully those who work in a drug testing field can still rely on the healing powers of cannabidiol .

Although you will fail a drug test for cannabis if you consume tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

THC is the primary psychoactive in the cannabis plant. It’s the compound that causes the classic cannabis “high” as well as bringing its own set of medicinal benefits .

Work forces that drug test often will use a urinalysis, which itself doesn’t check for substances, just the metabolites of specific drugs.

A metabolite is a breakdown product made after the body processes a particular substance. Cannabis urinalysis checks for the presence of a THC metabolite called THC-COOH.

This means that our lovely little friend CBD  does not get tested, unless it’s been designed to specifically test for Canabidiol metabolites.

In fact, there is not even a federal guideline for testing for the presence of cannabidiol in government employees.

So does that mean you should just use any CBD product that comes your way without worry of being caught with THC ?

Well not quite…

When Should I Worry About Using CBD Products?

All that being said, the source and quantity of cannabidiol may matter when taking a drug test.

Currently some cannabidiol products may contain small or trace amounts of THC.

If you purchase a high-CBD strain from an online dispensary , the product likely contains at least 1 percent THC and often more.

When consumed repeatedly throughout the day and in high quantities, even this small amount of THC may be enough to show up on a drug test.

There are also tinctures and extracts , such as Phoenix Tears and RSO that have 1:1 CBD to THC ratios. If you were to consume either of these, the amount of THC in them would definitely raise a flag at your drug test.

To keep yourself safe, a pure CBD isolate or 20:1 parts CBD to THC tincture will keep the alarm from going off on your urinalysis

Those who study Cannabidiol and it’s remarkable health benefits are starting to reveal it’s powers more and more often.

In a few years, I see Cannabidiol  being as common as Tylenol and Advil on pharmacy shelves!
